Neil Hudgins, 6th generation Brahman breeder of J.D. Hudgins Inc., was honored to be invited to judge the 2017 Beef Expo, in Dan Chang, Suphanburi, Thailand held on April 1 & 2, 2017. This invitation was extended by the 12 Breeders of Thailand, who along with the Thai Brahman Breeders Association, organized this successful event. The 12 Breeders is a group of breeders within the Thai Brahman Breeders Association that share a special bond and common love for the Brahman breed.
The judging took place in the Province of Suphanburi where over 200 head of excellent Grey & Red Brahman Cattle competed. Neil was pleased to find out after the judging that several of the Grey Brahman class winners and division champions were direct descendants of J. D. Hudgins Inc Herd sires, including the overall Grand Champion Bull and the overall Grand & Reserve Champion Females. Neil expressed his appreciation for the top quality cattle that were exhibited and congratulated them all for their progressive work in breeding cattle that could be competitive anywhere in the world. The show also consisted of approximately 50 head of Kumpangsan cattle which Mr. Hudgins judged. This breed of beef cattle was development in Thailand over 40 years ago. The breed is composed of 50% Charolais, 25% Brahman, & 25% Native Thai.
